Seven Wonders of the ancient  and new world!

Hello there boys and girls!
In the Antiquity, greeks historians selected several monuments around the known world. They thought that these marvelous buildings were the summum of the human expresion and art. Some of them disappeared a long time ago, for example:

  • The colossus of Rhodes
  • The lighthouse of Alexandria

Other ones remain throught centuries, for example:
  • The pyramid of Gizah

We are doing a special activity in class about the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, but you have to know that, nowadays, a lot of artists, historians, philosophers, etc... think that there are another Seven Wonders of actual world......

  1. Are you capable to find the New Seven Wonders? Find out each one if you can and write something about them.
  2. Which other wonders, monuments or buildings that you know do you include to this list?
You can find the New Seven Wonders of the world here

See you in class!

The British currency is the pound sterling. The sign for the pound is pound sign. In the United Kingdom, they don't use the Euro. The pound is divided into 100 pence. The singular of pence is penny. The symbol for the penny is "p". 50p is often pronounced "fifty pee" rather than "fifty pence".

There are coins and banknotes. Click here to see the coins and here to see the notes. Read the information and answer t
hese questions:

1. Which king or queen appears on one side of the coins?
2. Which coin shows a lion?
3. How many coins are there?
4. Is there a
pound sign100 note?
5. What is the slang (colloquial) nam
e for a pound?

Now play a game to see if you can use pounds an
d pence. What are you going to buy?
