Before Christ (-) and Anno Domini (+)

Emperor Augustus was born on the 23rd of September in 63 B.C. (this means Before Christ).

Thus, his first birthday was on the 23rd of September in 62 B.C. ... (1 year
after)

... his 10th birthday was on the 23rd of September in 53 B.C. ... (10 years
after)

... his 60th birthday was on the 23rd of September in 3 B.C. ... (60 years
after)

... so his 70th birthday was on the 23rd of September in 7 A.D. (this is Anno Domini) ...

... and he died on the 19th of August in 14 A.D. while he was still... ¿75?

(you can read it on the wikipedia english article about him)

His age at death should have been 76 instead of 75, shouldn't it?

... There is something here that does not fit with dates. What is wrong with the reasoning above?

  1. Hi!
The difference are seventy-six years from the birth's date until the death's date, but until September (month of his death), only is seventy-five years old, if we don't count the year ''0''.
    Goodbye!

  2. Hi! I´m José Mª
From birth to death was 76 years until his death difference. But only has 75 of age. What happens is that we have no year 0.
    Bye-bye!
