LEARN ABOUT ROCKS



It is not easy to identified rocks because there are so many kids of them. But here you have an interactive game where you can test a variety of rocks in terms of their properties.

You will work with 4 characteristics which are used to help identify rocks. You have to click the arrows to choose a rock. Then you have to put it into the tester and click the four levels to test the rock and see:

1.- if it wear well (if it is not easily damage)
2.- if it is permeable (if water penetrates into its pores)
3.- if it splits (if it breaks easily)
4.- if it floats (if it doesn´t sink to the bottom of the jar)

You can also click on the magnifying glass to find out more about the rocks and click the speaker to hear the words read aloud.



EXERCISES:
1.- Place each rock into the tester and click each levers.

2.- Which rocks wear well?

3.- Which rocks are permeable?

4.- Which rocks splits?

5.- Which rocks floats?

6.- Chose your favourite rock and write what is it commonly used for.

    6.-My favourite rock is granite and is use for:

    The granite has been used widely like a coating in public buildings and monuments. With increasing of acid rain in developed countries, the granite is replacing to the marble like monument material, since it's much more durable. The polished granite is very popular in kitchens because of it's high durability and aesthetic qualities.

    6.-My favourite rock is marble because:

    Marble is admired for its attractive texture and colour and can be easily cut and polished. Because of this, it is often used to create statues or used for effect in grands building.


    And this is everything!
