Hi!
I'm Karl! I don't know about you but Alfonso has spoken very good
of you!
of you!
My
name is Karl, like I say before, I'm from Austria, I met Alfonso 2
years ago when my sister and his sister met in Germany in Eramus.
Ah..
I'm 16 years old.
Now,
I
took his laptop and I've seen this blog that apparently speak about
European countries... And I say... Why not talk about my country?
Austria
is a small country in central Europe with capital in Vienna, like
Spain, Austria also belong to the European Union. And do you know how
we say 'Austria' in German (our official language)?
Republik Österreich.
Apart from German , also other languages as Croatian, Slovenian and Hungarian are spoken, but don't ask me to speak anything in any of these languages,
languages are not mine.. HAHAHAHAHA. I'm not going to talk more about the name , flag, etc. because there
are many more important things to explain.
Austria is situated in the Alps so most people of my country live in
rivers' valleys. For that, weather is not very good , especially in
winter... If you love snow, you are in the best place to practice ski.
The best moment to visit Austria is in summer, you can enjoy Vienna with a great breeze. Oh, I forget said that I live actually in Vienna, the capital of Austria. For me, Austria is beautiful, both isolated villages in the rugged Alps to medium and large cities ,
especially Vienna. Like the visitors say, 'small country, big menu', in Austria, there are many typical food of the differents regions, for example, imagine a
steak of carpaccio (alpine ox) in the higher villages of the Austrian
Alps or exquisite soup of knödel (meatballs) in the quiet restaurants
of eastern Austria or some sparkling palatschinken (Austrian crêpes) in the places of Vienna.
Vienna has something that attracts attention, old and modern at the
same time, Vienna is gastonomy,
Vienna is music, with composers like Beethoven or Mozard, Vienna
is culture, with most of 100 museums. The three places that
characterize Vienna are the Ringstrasse, the most important avenue
of the city, where the most important buildings of Vienna are located. Vienna 's opera, which I dare say is the most important one in
Europe.
And for finish, the Austrian parliament, the most notable building
of the Ringstrasse. These three points are the most characteristic , but there are many more wonderful buildings. If you love the palaces , the best place to visit is Vienna, here you can find Schönbrunn Palace
( summer residence of the imperial family ) , Hofburg Palace ( residence of the Habsburgs ) ,
Belvedere Palace ( summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy )
I don't like very much palaces and all related to the art, I see it boring, I prefer
this other buildings: The Prater ( themes park world's oldest ), Hundertwasser is a residential block built by Friedensreich Hundertwasser ( Austrian artist ),
the City Park ( Stadtpar) is preferred by both Viennese and tourists visiting the capital, Naschmarkt , the most famous and older market in Vienna. You might be asked , will you spend all day listening to classical
music while you paint pictures on cold winter evenings ? And the
answer is.. NO! Young Austrians are the same as you, we love going out for dinner with friends, going to the park to sunbathe, etc.
Sure I left many important things back, but I have no more time to talk about my country , I have to continue my studies
in tourism and Alfonso is almost come! Finally, say that I hope you come to Austria , especially to Vienna! To enjoy this wonderful country. Before saying goodbye, I leave some questions! 1.- What do you like most about Austria? 2.- What do you prefer, small towns in the Alps or the great cities of the east? 3.- Do you know something more about Austria? 4.- Could you tell me any important tradition of Austria? Hope you like it, KARL.
